She entered on a horse, acted like a minstrel at various tables until mounting the steps of the royal table she deposited a letter, and left rapidly on her horse. RMERN4NH–King George, Kaiser Willhelm II of Germany and The Duke of Connaught at the funeral of King Edward VII. Edward died at Sandringham on May 6, 1910, after a series of heart attacks. His coffin lay in state in Westminster Hall before being taken through the streets of London and on to Windsor by train. The funeral was held in St George's Chapel where he was buried on May 20th 1910.

RMMX08DG–Edward I (1239–1307), also known as Edward Longshanks was King of England from 1272 to 1307. His son, Edward was born to Queen Eleanor of Castile in Caernarfon Castle in North Wales on 25 April 1284, less than a year after Edward I had conquered the region. The King chose the castle as the location for Edward's birth, as it was an important symbolic location for the native Welsh and formed the centre of the new royal administration of North Wales. It was suggested that the baby was offered to the Welsh as a prince 'that was borne in Wales and could speake never a word of English'.

The original palace was given to Edward II in 1305 by the Bishop of Durham, Anthony Bek, and used as a royal residence from the 14th to the 16th century. Edward IV built the Great Hall in the 1470s, and a young Henry VIII also grew up here; it was here in 1499 that he met and impressed the scholar Erasmus, introduced to him by Thomas More. Eltham was less frequented, save for the hunting in its enclosed parks and Christmas celebrations in Tudor times.

RMPKG160–The Old Hall in the Grammar School of King Edward VI in Stratford-upon-Avon Warwickshire, England. There's been an educational facility there since at least the early thirteenth century - established by the Guild of the Holy Cross and, the School can trace its origins to May 1295. It is likely that the playwright and poet William Shakespeare attended the school between the ages of seven and fourteen. His father, John Shakespeare, a glover and wool dealer in the town, held the office of bailiff of the borough in 1568. As a child, William would have been entitled to a free place at the school.

RMP20K65–Richard of York, aka Richard Plantagenet (1411-1460) claimed the throne having won the Battle of Northampton and captured King Edward IV, whom they brought back to London. When York arrived in London and entered Parliament, he made for the empty throne as if to occupy it, but was intercepted by Thomas Bourchier, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Richard advanced his claim to the crown by hereditary right but narrow support among his peers led to failure. However, Parliament granted York extraordinary executive powers to protect the realm, and made him Lord Protector of England.

During the first half of the Great War he lived at Kenwood House in Hampstead and was a prominent figure in London society.
