Bodie is now a California State Park and is perhaps the finest example of a ghost town from the America's Old West Gold Rush era. About five percent of the original wooden and brick buildings remain in a state of arrested decay (further decay is prevented but no further repair is done). The road to this well-preserved historical site is off I-395 between Lee Vining to the south and Bridgeport to the north along the California-Nevada border in a barren range of low hills. The altitude is 8,300 feet and the site is windswept most of the year. All but the last three miles are paved. Goth prisoners in a triumphal procession of Emperor Theodosius. Theodosius I (Latin: Flavius Theodosius Augustus;( 347 – 395), also known as Theodosius the Great, was Roman Emperor from AD 379 to AD 395. Theodosius was the last emperor to rule over both the eastern and the western halves of the Roman Empire. On accepting his elevation, he campaigned against Goths and other barbarians who had invaded the Empire;he failed to kill, expel, or entirely subjugate them, and after the Gothic War they established a homeland south of the Danube, in Illyricum, within the empire's borders.
