The Camp, also known as Konzentrationslager Herzogenbosch, is now a National Memorial and was opened by Queen Beatrix on 18 April 1990. The whole area of the Camp which operated in 1943/44 stretched back as far as the nearby villages. There are now recreated wash rooms and toilets, an Information Centre, sleeping quarters and the crematorium with original ovens. Vught was known as the 'Gateway to Hell' and was not in itself an extermination camp but a transit facility for the camps in Germany and Poland where prisoners were gassed.

RMTA2E5N–Decision of Reichsfuehrer SS Heinrich Himmler on the children of Lidice. The children should either be sent to concentration camps or to Lebensborn homes. In the course of the successful Operation Anthropoid, it came to retaliation against the Czech population. The Czech village Lidice was completely destroyed by the Wehrmacht on June 10, 1942. The men were shot dead, and the women and children were brought to concentration camps.
