RMMC6GA2–MAZES - THE ALKBOROUGH MAZE - JULIAN'S BOWER Ground plan of the mediaeval maze known as Julian's Bower, at Alkborough. The original turf maze is 12 metres in diameter [colour pictures of this maze are available in the Charles Walker archives]. The ground plan has been adopted for details in the masonry and stained glass of the local parish church, and even on grave-stones [colour images of all these are in the Charles Walker archives]. This is not a pure maze, for, once having embarked upon its pathway, there is no chance of becoming lost: the path leads inexorably to the inner circle.
