Mr Roberts supervised an operation by Mr Goel on 69-year-old John Graham Reeves in which the patient's healthy left kidney was wrongly removed instead of his diseased right one. Mr Reeves died five weeks after the procedure at the Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, South Wales.
