RMGKGTWN–Mark I Male Tank C19, moves up to the front through Chimpanzee Valley on the 15th September 1916, the first use of tanks in battle, on the Somme to Flers - Courcelette. Chimpanzee Valley is just to the west of Hardecourt and was used as a staging area on the way up to the front.
