The river is widely used to transport goods, produce, and people. An estimated 50,000 commuters cross the Buriganga from Keraniganj to work in Dhaka, and many take boats. A fleet of wooden boats, which resemble the petals of flower, waits to ferry commuters across the Buriganga River to jobs at a major river port in Dhaka, Bangladesh while boatmen tie the boats together in a flowery pattern and get forty winks ahead of the afternoon rush hour. They work 16 hours a day and get less than £5 for this. So, they take rest whenever they get a chance to relieve the fatigue of the long working hours.
