Born in Stettin, Pomerania, Prussia as Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg, she came to power following a coup d'état when her husband, Peter III, was assassinated. Russia was revitalised under her reign, growing larger and stronger than ever and becoming recognised as one of the great powers of Europe.

RMP9H113–In 1515, King Henry VIII and Queen Catherine accompanied by courtiers rode from Greenwich to Shooters Hill when they saw a company of yeomen, clothed in green with bows and arrows. One of them called Robin Hood came to the King desiring him to see his men's archery. Then Robin asked the King and Queen to come into the woods where there was an arbour of boughs with a great chamber covered with flowers and sweet herbs, which the King praised. Then King and Queen sat down for venison and wine served by Robin Hood and his men.

This view shows shops and shoppers with horses and carriages. The street's name is derived from 'pall-mall', a ball game played there during the 1600s. A new road was built on the site of the old pall-mall court, and opened in 1661.
