RM2JJYB83–King's bedroom at Windsor Castle for many years, and which has never previously been seen by the public, will be on view at the Scots Guards ' Loan Exhibition which opens today at Grosvenor Square. The portrait is of Prince Arthur, now the Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, painted at the age of five. The young prince is wearing the uniform of the Scot's Guards, with busby and epaulettes, and the portrait has been lent by the gracious permission of H.H. The King. RMDYDK99–Arthur James Balfour, 1st Earl of Balfour, (1848 – 1930) was a British Conservative politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from July 1902 to December 1905. When he came into his inheritance at 21 Balfour became one of the wealthiest young men in Britain. He rose to prominence by suppressing agrarian unrest in Ireland through punitive action combined with measures against absentee landlords. After a period of being highly influential in government, he succeeded his uncle, Lord Salisbury as Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader in July 1902.

A portrait of Henry VIII as a young man wearing a black cap and jewellery, which is attributed to Jean Perreal - was sold at Sotheby's today for 160 guineas. It may be the missing portrait from the series of Royal Portraits extending from Edward IV to Arthur, Prince of Wales, now at Windsor Castle, and was among a number of works sent for sale by Mr. M. Clifford Smith . It was bought by Mr. Betts, a dealer The scene at Sotheby's during the sale of the Henry VIII portrait today.
