In 1866, Fort Kochi became a municipality, and its first Municipal Council election was conducted in 1883. The Maharaja of Cochin, who ruled under the British, in 1896 initiated local administration by forming town councils in Mattancherry and Ernakulam. In 1925, Kochi legislative assembly was constituted due to public pressure on the state.

RMRKM1JW–Joseph Lancaster's British and Foreign School Society (BFSS) offered charitable aid to educational projects in the UK and around the world by funding schools, other charities and educational bodies. Built in Borough Road, Southwark, London and established in 1798, it was an important development in the provision of universal free education for children. The Lancasterian system used older children who had already been given some education to teach the younger children. It was designed to provide a cheap basic education with limited educational resources.

RM2B015HH–China: Shanghai - The (Old) Shanghai Club, 1902. The original Shanghai Club was a three-storey red-brick building constructed by the British in 1861. The original Club was torn down and rebuilt in 1910 with reinforced concrete in a neo-classical design. The large first floor dining room had black and white marble flooring, while the entrance staircase used imported white Sicilian marble. The club was a British men's club and was the most exclusive club in Shanghai during the heyday of the 1920s and 1930s. The membership fee was $125 and monthly dues were $9.

The road was part of an uncompleted ring road. The Greyfriars development built in the early 1960s. The development was not a success and it was partially revamped and the rest knocked down (including the low building right). Franciscan Tower (centre left) is an apartment block. It was reclad and renamed St Francis Court in the 1990s. Unfortunately it was reclad in flammable HPL material – a vintage 1960s photo.

It was founded in 1441 by Henry VI, however, the King's plans for the college were disrupted by the Wars of the Roses, a scarcity of funds, as well as his eventual deposition. In 1508 Henry VII began to take an interest and the building of the college's chapel, begun in 1446, was finally finished in 1544 during the reign of Henry VIII. The Chapel is regarded as one of the greatest examples of late Gothic English architecture, with the world's largest fan vault, and stained-glass windows and a wooden chancel screen
