His body lies in state in a private chapel at San Cassiano cemetery before burial in the family tomb. Mussolini's body had been hidden for 10 years before in a hiding place known only to two men. This weekend, his body was returned to his widow. The former Il Duce and his mistress, Clara Petacci, were hanged by partisans when escaping after his regime had collapsed during the Second World War.
