RMG944H9–Paddy the giraffe at Paignton Zoo, Devon, Monday February 13th 2006. Paddy's mate Kizi and his unnammed six-day-old calf were killed in a fire overnight. Paddy was rescued by zoo staff before fumes overcame him. Police are investigating the fire, which is believed to have started in bedding hay in the zoo's elephant house.
