RFEK1037–Vintage chemistry engraving - An easy way to obtain hydrogen at room temperature. Byts of zinc were put on the bottom of a bottle; an 1:8 sulphuric acid solution was poured through the primary neck thus binding the water oxygen as zinc oxide, and the resulting hydrogen was collected through the secondary neck and trapped in a water-filled cylinder closed on top and immersed in water.

RFEK102C–Burning hydrogen produces pure water. In the left-hand bottle bits of zinc are oxidised by a diluted sulphuric acid being poured in; the resulting hydrogen is collected through the second neck and exiccated in the horizontal pipe and burnt at the end of the thin S-shaped pipe, where the combustion product is collected in a bell. The bell clouds with mist that eventually condenses and drips down in a disk: it is pure water.
