RMH604AP–Anna May Wong, (centre table) born 3 January1905 to second-generation Chinese-American parents in Los Angeles. Considered first Chinese-American movie star. Her career spanned silent film, film, television, stage and radio. First screen credit at the age 16, a leading role one year later. Starring roles limited by American anti-miscegenation laws and Wong left Hollywood for Europe in 1928. Returned to Hollywood in the 1930s. Seen as fashion icon and Look magazine named her ‘the World’s most beautiful Chinese girl’ in 1938. Died of a heart attack February 3 1961. Photo circa 1933
