RMTA2BYR–Field Marshal General Fedor von Bock takes the salute of German troops at the Arc de Triomphe after the invasion of Paris on 14 June 1940. After repeated conflicts with Hilter, he was relieved of his duties as commander of Army Group B in 1942 and was seconded to Fuehrerreserve (“Officers Reserve”) until the end of the war. He was the son of a samurai fencing master, and fought for the Choshu forces during the Boshin War in 1868. He joined the newly formed Imperial Japanese Army in 1871, serving initially as a captain.
