RFP8APFR–The original World Trade Center’s Twin Towers under construction in 1971 as seen from the Hudson River in New York City, New York, USA. The building of the North Tower (foreground) began in 1968 and the South Tower in 1969. Both structures had been completed and occupied for a decade before they collapsed on September 11, 2001, after being struck by two passenger jetliners hijacked by terrorists. A total of 2,606 people died in the buildings during the disaster. At one time these towering twin structures of the first World Trade Center (WTC) were the tallest buildings in the world.
