The Round House (built circa 1769), said to have been used for grinding raw materials, as a counting house, and as a stable, is now the only surviving structure.

His assassination of the Nazi German diplomat Ernst vom Rath on 7 November 1938 in Paris provided the Nazis with the pretext for the Kristallnacht, the antisemitic pogrom of 9–10 November 1938. Grynszpan was seized by the Gestapo after the German invasion of France and brought to Germany. Grynszpan's fate is unknown. However, he probably did not survive the Second World War.

Meitner, who was Jewish, fled Nazi Germany for Sweden in 1938. Her fellow scientist Otto Hahn won the 1944 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for nuclear fission, but she did not share in the award, which many found unfair. Photo taken between 1940 and 1960.

While he was away building alongside that was under process of demolition - collapsed of its own volition fifty tons of debris crashed down on the car - turning it into a complete wreck.. RM2A0YTEG–The former WW11 hospital ship HMS AMRA sailing into the Port of Aden in the Yemen in 1960. She was originally built for the British India Steam Navigation Company Ltd of Calcutta in November 1938, for use on its Calcutta-Rangoon service. She was requisitioned by the British Government as a troop carrier and hospital ship for the duration of the war. Following the war she was used by the Indian government for the transportation of freight and passengers on the East African route, before eventually being broken up in 1961.
