A model 1822 sabre for a drum major, as worn during the reign of Louis Philippe (1830 - 1848) Curved blade à la Montmorency, with maker's inscription, 'Klingenthal' on the back of the blade. Gilded brass hilt with fine relief, with a stamped crown over 'CP' on the obverse side. Leather grip cover with triple copper wire winding and a lion head pommel. The scabbard is of chased sheet brass, also gilded, and with the maker's inscription 'Manceaux à Paris' on the back. Gilding somewhat rubbed. The scabbard has minimal cracks in two places.
