Thomas Britton (1644 – 1714) was an English merchant, best known as a concert promoter. In 1678 he fitted out the loft of his Clerkenwell house as a tiny concert hall with a harpsichord and a five stop organ. Despite the unglamorous venue, accessible only by an external staircase, the relative novelty of a series of concerts attracted a considerable audience.
