Heavily scented wisteria grows amongst the framework of the Japanese bridge spanning the shallow stream within the Wild Garden of Cottesbrooke Hall in Northamptonshire, viewed from beneath the colourful foliage of a mature acer tree. Cottesbrooke Hall is a Queen Anne period house dating from 1702, and is reputed to be the inspiration for Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park".
