Windmills were used to grind the wheat cultivated at the Lasithi plateau, a karst plain or polje at an elevvation around 840 meter above the sea in the East of Crete. In Windmühlen am Rande dier Lasithi-Hochebene, einer Karst-Ebene oder Polje im Osten Kretas auf einer Höhe von rund 840 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel, wurde früher der dort angebaute Weizen gemalhen.
