Every year, a group of approximately 3, 000 fans of the Mad Max films by Director George Miller create a post-apocalyptic world on a piece of desert near California City, California, in the Mojave Desert. Costumes are required, and attendees come up with intricate and interesting stories to go along with the characters and tribes that they create during the event. The event lasts for 4 days and a fully functional Bartertown and Thunderdome are erected for the festival.
