A carnival atmosphere for a sad occasion. Streamers fly as the Union-Castle Windsor Castle leaves Southampton for her last scheduled voyage to Cape Town, South Africa. Windsor Castle (36, 000 tons) launched by the Queen Mother at Birkenhead in 1959 is being withdrawn along with Safmarine's SA Vaal because the first of the fleet of big container ships are coming into service on the route. Windsor Castle is due to be sold. SA Vaal is due to maker her last voyage on September 2nd.
