Thousands of Japanese people, including right-wing nationalists, come every year to greet their Emperor on the day of his birthday. Emperor Akihito, accompanied by Empress Michiko and all the members of his family, appears several times in a large window of the Imperial Palace to give his speech. While other people greeted the Emperor silently by waving little Japanese flags, nationalists sang the national anthem and screemed "Banzai" to demonstrate their affilitation. © Martin Hladik/AFLO/Alamy Live News
