Helmeted guineafowl, Numida meleagris The helmeted guineafowl is a chicken-sized bird with a characteristic humped appearance. It is a plump chicken-sized bird with a characteristic humped-back appearance. The fowl has an attractive spotted black plumage which appears grey. A boney curved crest adorns it's head. This Guineafowl is one of a number that live wild around Goathland havng escaped captivity some years ago.
