Cairo, Egypt -- Saladin Citadel of Cairo, a medieval Islamic fortress that dominates the city built in 1183-84. Built on a hill overlooking the city on the Mokattam area, it is now preserved as a historic site with mosques and museums, and provides one of the best panoramas in the city. It is also referred to as Mohamed Ali Citadel.
