Strassenbau in Nordindien: Der Schotterweg zwischen Manali und Leh wird in einer Hoehe von ueber 5000 Metern ueber dem Meeresspiegel mit einer Teerdecke versehen. Die Strassenbauer arbeiten mit einfachsten Mitteln und tragen den Asphalt von Hand auf. Der Teer wird auf offenen Feuern bei starker Rauchentwicklung verflüssigt.
