More information:

Detroit, Michigan - Members of United Auto Workers Local 6000 picket the state of Michigan office building to protest the state's plan to drop more than 12, 000 families from the welfare rolls. The state legislature passed a measure limiting benefits to 48 months, even as the state's unemployment rate is over 10 percent. Local 6000 represents state employees. Rev. Jesse Jackson (second from left) and Congressman Gary Peters (third from left) joined the protest.
