More information:

The Deltic prototype, built in Preston by the "English Electric" company, was the forerunner of both a class of locomotive and the advent of diesel-electric traction on British Railways. It was extremely powerful for its time using two Napier Deltic 18 oil engines rated at 3300 horse power.
