Picturesque view of Devon’s Slapton Sands beach. During WWII the beach was used to practice D-Day landings for the invasion of the codenamed Utah beach in Normandy. During these landing rehearsals the beach was the scene of a tragic incident, which culminated in the loss of nearly one thousand American servicemen.
