Pen y Gaer Iron Age hillfort, North Wales: view SE over chevaux-de-frise defences (small upright stones) outside the entrances through two stone ramparts on the W. Up to three ramparts (stone, and banks & ditches) enclose an area of two hectares. There are hut platforms within the fort and patches of chevaux-de-frise defences outside the S ramparts and the original W entrance.
