The 1896 Societe Generale Building on George St is a gorgeous pre 1900 skyscraper. Designed by American architect Edward Raht, it was first highrise to use steel girder in Sydney.The 7storey reaches 42m which is as high as a 10-12storey. One of the finest examples of pre 1900 buildings to be found in Sydney.
