March 1, 2018 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany - On the basis of having been falsely institionalized in a psychiatric facility despite being mentally healthy, Gustl Mollath will be claiming monetary damages against the state of Bavaria for 7.5 years of incarceration and conspiracy. In 2006 experts delivered diagnoses that Mollath suffered from paranoid personality disorder due to claims of a money laundering scandal at HypoVereinsbank München. He was acquitted of the charges due to the psychiatric diagnoses which led to his commitment. The claims of suspicious activities by bank employees that also involved his wife were eventually deemed ''plausible'' in 2012. Mollath was subsequently released after over 7.5 years of incarceration in 2013, acquitted fully in 2014, and now claims a cover-up conspiracy took place. He further maintains his full innocence in the case of abuse of his wife. The Bundesgerichtshof (BGH) (Supreme Court) ruled in 2015 that Mollath is entitled to monetary damages, but lawyer Schlötterer, Mollath and FDP politician Hildebrecht Braun are lobbing that the German limit of 25 Euros per day of false incarceration is not in line with human rights, dignity, or other European nations and encourages abuse and the railroading by the courts he alleges. Mollath’s complaint against Bavaria will be registered next week. (Credit Image: © Sachelle Babbar via ZUMA Wire)
