Mr and Mrs Ian Callan of Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire, who are believed to be Britain's longest married graduate couple. They met in Edinburgh University, where they were both studying botany, in the weeks running up to the outbreak of WW2 in 1939 and married in 1942. During WW2 Mrs Callan had been instrumental in developing the anti-malarial drug paludrine.
