Mar 22, 2004; Kosovo, SERBIA; UN and NATO peacekeepers barricade the bridge which divides the troubled city of Kosovska Mitrovica into North (controlled by Serbs) and South (controlled by Albanians). The bridge is blocked with KFOR troops and armoured vehicles to prevent both sides from crossing the bridge and attacking each other. Riots broke out in at least six towns March 17th, when ethnic Albanians blamed Serbs for the drowning of two children, touching off one of the worst days of Serb-Albanian bloodshed since the end of the Kosovo war in 1999.
