That the Ford Trimotor used an all-metal corrugated-skin construction was not a revolutionary concept, but it was certainly more advanced than the standard construction techniques of the 1920s. Powered by three 300 hp (220 kW) Wright J-6-9 Whirlwind nine-cylinder radial piston engines carrying just 12 passengers and 2 pilots.
