Located in Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park, the Hiroshima Prefectural Commerchial Exhibition Hall was one of the very few buildings that wasn't totally flattened by the explosion of the world's first atomic bomb that was dropped on the city in 1945. The ruins were purposely preserved as is to remind people of the effects of the first atomic bomb in history and to promote the abolition of nuclear weapons. The building is now called the A-bomb Dome and is registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
