Little Wendy Scorer knits busily away. Her friends look on as a long scarf grows even longer. The children hope to set up a new record for the longest scarf in the World. According to the Guinness Book of Records the present record (1970) is 360 feet. But six year old Wendy and forty nine other pupils at Castleton Primary School new Rochdale, Lancs have already knitted 290 feet. They intend to continue until they reach 400 feet. The children are being sponsored in their knitting and they have raised £90 towards a new classroom. 26th May 1970
