The Lighthouse is located on Eilean Musdile, a small island just off the southwestern tip of Lismore Island.and protects shipping in the Sound of Mull. The lighthouse was built in 1833 by Robert Stevenson, engineer and was automated in 1965. The beacon flashes white every 10 seconds and has a nominal range of 19 miles. The lighthouse marks the entrances from the Firth of Lorn to Loch Linnhe to the north and also to the Sound of Mull to the west..Accessible only by boat.
