Lancaster R5699 was part of a massive Bomber Command raid on Dusseldorf on the night of 31 July/1 August 1942. The 61squadron was then based at Syerston, Nottinghamshire. Crew members as yet unidentified. R5699 crashed short of the runway at base on 21 December 1942 but no one was injured.
