La Chaloupe d'Or, Grote Markt 24, Brussels, BelgiumMore information:
Cafe-Restaurant La Chaloupe d'Or, Grand Place, Brussels. The tavern and café la Chaloupe d'Or is located on the Grand-Place, opposite the current townhall. The building used to belong to a guild of tailors until they were expropriated by the town in the 14th century to make room for the market. In 1695, the bombings of Brussels ordered by Louis XIV destroyed the building as well as the city centre. It was rebuilt in 1697 by the architect D. Bruyn in the Italian baroque style and Flemish decor characterising nearly all of the Grand-Place.
