Dominating the entire exhibition space is Bucentaur, boat with mast, oars and sails, commissioned in Venice by Vittorio Amedeo II between 1729 and 1731, under the supervision of Juvarra. On 2 September 1731 the "Boat Sublime" as it was then called, reached the river port of Turin at the Castello del Valentino, after 31 days of navigation on the river Po. The boat, single original Venetian in 1700 left in the world, is full of golden sculptures of exceptional workmanship: we can admire a bow Narcissus reflected in the water that acts as a figurehead, flanked by two old men pouring water from two skins, sea horses stand at the stern and the tiller shape of a dragon, or snake, and along the sides, red in color, runs a band decorated with gilded carvings in bas-relief.
