The operator of a prototype shutterless photo-finish camera waits for the runners to pass in front of him during testing. The camera is situated in a small dark room in a tower 30 feet high, 80 feet from the rails, and 20 yards short of the winning post. An actual race finish is to be used for the final test before the camera can be installed on racecourses throughout the country
