Hardwick Old Hall, Derbyshire, 2007. Elevated view of the hall from the north-east. Hardwick Old Hall was the home of Bess of Hardwick, one of the wealthiest women in Elizabethan England. It stands beside the New Hall, which she had built in the 1590s.
