Bettys Café Tea Rooms - Ilkley. This traditional café, is extremely popular with locals and visitors to the area. Bettys was founded by Frederick Belmont, a Swiss baker and confectioner. He opened his first Café Tea Rooms in Harrogate in 1919 and then, in the 1920's, he opened a Craft Bakery in the same town. This enabled him to open Bettys branches in other Yorkshire towns and there are now six Café Tea Rooms in the county (including this one in Ilkley). The Bettys name has in fact, become famous the world over. The business is still owned by the same family!
