Exterior view and mirror image of the new Market hall or Markthal Rotterdam ( in Dutch ) in Rotterdam, South Holland, The Netherlands. The Market Hall is a combination of state-of-the-art design with a residential area, retail and an indoor market hall. The inner facade of the Market Hall is lined with a 11, 000 m2 (two football fields) great artwork by Arno Coenen, entitled Cornucopia. This title refers to the Cornucopia, a horn from the Latin mythology that symbolizes abundance and satiety ( 'The Horn of Plenty' ).. The artwork shows highly magnified fruits, vegetables, grains, fish, flowers and insects. It's situated between Binnenrotte, Hoogstraat and Blaak. The opening took place on October 1, 2014 by Queen Maxima. The Market Hall was designed by architects MVRDV. The exterior ( gray stone) of the building consists of an arched shape of a horseshoe and glass facades on front and rear.
