Elefantporten, the Elephant Gate, sometimes called the Elephant Tower, Elefanttårnet, at the entrance to the old Carlsberg Brewery, Copenhagen, Denmark, is the most famous landmark of the Carlsberg area. It takes its name from four huge granite elephants flanking the gate back to back carrying the small tower above. Designed by Vilhelm Dahlerup in 1901. The figures are made of granite from the Danish island Bornholm. Note the Swastika on one of the elephants. It was the trade mark of Carlsberg. However, the use was discontinued in the 1930s because of its association with the Nazi Party in neighboring Germany.
