According to Tour tradition the overall leader is not attacked anymore on the last stage of the three-week-long event. Armstrong dominated the 2004 Tour like no other, winning five stages and finishing with a record sixth straight overall victory. The 163 km long final stage of the 91st Tour de France led from Montereau to the famous Champs-Elysees in Paris.
