Gerster announced the current figuers of the job market. The number of unemployed went slightly down in March due to seasonal employment. The German Federal Employment Office announced also that in March the number of unemployed was at around 4, 6 million which meant a decline of 100, 000. The rate of unemployment went down from 11, 3 to 11, 1 percent. Gerster said that the forecast of 4, 1 million unemployed to the middle of the year 2003 was unattainable due to the weak economic situation. The number of unemployed is expected to be higher.
