(dpa files) - Hungarian composer Gyorgy Kurtag pictured during an interview in Munich, 18 June 1998. Gyorgy Kurtag was born at Lugos (Lugoj), Romania, on 19 February 1926. In 1968 he was appointed professor of chamber music, a post he held until his retirement in 1986. Kurtag was active especially in the field of chamber music and is often named the successor of Bela Bartok.
